As we noted earlier this week, the Philadelphia Eagles will come into their Week 6 matchup very healthy, as they have in every other game this season. The Redskins, on the other hand, come into this matchup very banged up.
Here are the inactive lists:
• CB Leodis McKelvin: McKelvin did not appear on the injury report last week against the Lions, but he tweaked his previously injured hamstring during the game. With McKelvin be out, Ron Brooks would likely start on the outside. In nickel sets, Brooks would move inside and Jalen Mills would enter the game and play on the outside.
That could present favorable matchups for the Redskins, as Mills does not have good long speed and could be over-matched by the speed of DeSean Jackson.
• WR Bryce Treggs: It appears the Eagles will roll with four wide receivers, meaning Treggs won't see action unless one gets hurt.
• OL Dillon Gordon: Gordon is a versatile player the Eagles want to develop over time, but he'll be inactive for the foreseeable future.
• OL Isaac Seumalo: Seumalo is an injured scratch for the fifth time in as many games so far this season.
• OL Josh Andrews: Andrews makes three inactive offensive linemen, down from four the first four games, with Halapoulivaati Vaitai being elevated to the active roster.
• DE Steven Means: This is Means' second inclusion on the inactive list this season, as the Eagles have no injured players for the second straight week.
• CB C.J. Smith: Smith was added to the roster this week after Lane Johnson was officially suspended.
Notable players on IR/PUP/Suspension
• RT Lane Johnson: Rookie fifth-round pick Halapoulivaati Vaitai will take over for Lane Johnson over the next 10 weeks while Johnson serves his suspension.
• TE Jordan Reed (concussion): In an unexpected development, Reed was diagnosed with a concussion on Thursday after he showed concussion-like symptoms on Tuesday. This is his SIXTH concussion, and it's one in which nobody even knows where it came from.
The Redskins listed Reed as out on Saturday.
• WR Josh Doctson: Doctson was the Redskins' 2016 first-round pick. He has been out since Week 2 with an Achilles injury, but obviously, the Redskins have their share of good receivers in DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon and Jamison Crowder. On the season, Doctson has two catches for 66 yards.
• LB Su'a Cravens: Cravens claimed on Snapchat that his concussion has permanently affected his vision, per John Keim of ESPN:
"Due to my concussion, my eyes have lost the memory to keep track of moving objects, so I have to wear these for the rest of my life," Cravens said in the video.
The
Redskins quickly responded that there was "zero truth" to Cravens' claims, per JP Finlay CSN
Washington.
Cravens is the Redskins' best cover linebacker.
• QB Nate Sudfeld: Sudfeld is the Redskins' third quarterback. The backup is Colt McCoy, in case you're wondering.
• CB Dashaun Phillips: Phillips actually started two games this season while Bashaud Breeland was hurt. Breeland is active today.
• OT Vinston Painter: Back of the roster guy.
• DE Anthony Lanier: Ditto.
Notable players on IR/PUP/Suspension
• OLB Junior Galette (Non-football injury list): Productive pass rusher who had 12 sacks in 2013, 10 sacks in 2014, and hasn't played since.
• S DeAngelo Hall (IR, ACL): Hall's season is over after tearing an ACL. He was a starting safety.
• S David Bruton (concussion): Bruton was the Redskins' other starting safety. Will Blackmon and Duke Ihenacho are the replacements for Hall and Bruton.
• C Kory Lichtensteiger (IR, calf): Third-year pro Spencer Long took over at center for the Skins.
• NT Kedric Golston (IR, hamstring): Golston was part of the Redskins' defensive line rotation.
