On Monday morning, X-rays showed no fracture in Jalen Hurts' right middle finger, the NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported, but the Eagles quarterback is taking his injury day by day.

Hurts dislocated his finger following through on a throw during the second quarter of Sunday's deflating 27-10 loss to the Giants up in the Meadowlands.

Bursting through the offensive line, Giants linebacker Bobby Okereke lept at Hurts in an attempt to get in the way of the pass. As Hurts completed his throwing motion, his hand hit off the helmet of Okereke as he was landing, which Hurts confirmed postgame popped his finger out.

Hurts was looked at on the sideline after the possession, but remained in until head coach Nick Sirianni made the call to pull the starters with the Eagles in a 24-0 hole and with their shot at clinching the NFC East and the No. 2 seed in the playoffs all but lost.

The Eagles are in dire straits heading into next Monday night's Wild Card game against the Buccaneers down in Tampa, having dropped five of their final six games and with each passing defeat only getting worse than the last.

An injured Hurts – even though he didn't look so hot himself during Sunday's embarrassment up at MetLife Stadium – doesn't help their already seemingly slim chances of turning this around so late into the game, but they stand a better chance with him than without.

Whatever's left of that chance, that is.
