Eagles claim a linebacker off waivers

The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Wednesday that they claimed linebacker Steven Daniels off of waivers from the Washington Redskins. Daniels was a seventh-round pick of the Redskins last year.

The Eagles showed interest in Daniel during the pre-draft process last offseason, bringing him in for a visit to the NovaCare Complex.

In 2013, Daniels finished third on Boston College's defense with 88 tackles. In 2014, he was second with 72 tackles. And in 2015, he led BC's defense with 82 tackles. He did not appear in any games for the Redskins a season ago.

Daniels will not wow anyone with his measurables, as he is only 5'11, and he ran a 4.86 40 at the NFL Combine. Daniels' spider chart from the 2016 Combine:

Bleh. However, Daniels reminds me a bit of Jim Schwartz favorite Steven Tulloch, as both players can thump:

The Eagles need linebacker depth, and Daniels will compete for a roster spot in camp.
