It looks like Chipotle is the new Starbucks. Drexel University is apparently getting its own installment of the restaurant chain at The Summit at University City, its latest apartment complex which opened in August 2015.
Rumors have abounded on the campus for some time about the addition, and MSC Retail, which has been negotiating with potential tenants for space on the ground floor, lists Chipotle among the businesses planting roots there.
Then, the Summit posted "It's official - CHIPOTLE IS COMING TO THE SUMMIT! #ChipotleIsMyLife" on its Facebook today, so it seems the deal is, well, officially official. Or, perhaps students just didn't want to get their hopes up until now.

It will open at 3400 Lancaster Avenue, despite the fact that there is indeed a Chipotle on Penn's campus at 39th and Walnut. These close-knit neighbors will fit in right alongside the Summit's Starbucks, which joins other iterations of the coffee chain at 33rd and Ludlow, 34th and Chestnut and 34th and Walnut. Yes, really.
PhillyVoice has reached out to American Campus, which owns The Summit, to confirm an opening date, but they have not yet returned requests for comment.
