April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, a movement to end sexual violence and to educate communities on how to prevent it. To kick off the month, ROAR for Good will host a screening of the documentary "The Hunting Ground" at Temple University's Center City Campus on Wednesday, April 6.
The documentary uses first-person testimonies and expert insight to discuss sexual assault at universities and colleges around the country.
"We believe getting people to view this film and open discussions on this painful topic is a start to decreasing the violence,” Yasmine Mustafa, ROAR for Good co-founder and CEO, said in a press release.
ROAR for Good is a Philadelphia startup that creates personal safety jewelry as part of its social-justice mission.
The screening is free and open to the public but does require registration. The film will begin at 6:15 p.m. and a discussion will follow. Free snacks from Duck Donuts and Insomnia Cookies will be available to attendees.
