Eat alligator, python and kangaroo without leaving Philly

Destination Dogs opened on Walnut Street

A new themed restaurant has opened its doors on Walnut Street. Destination Dogs, a restaurant that serves up sausage dishes, is outfitted to make guests feel like they're about to embark on an adventure.

Some of the dishes do require adventurous eaters. There are sausages made from chicken, pork and beef, but also wild boar, alligator, kangaroo, duck, lamb and python.

Walk in the restaurant and you'll see a poster that looks like the flight arrival board at the airport, but instead of destinations, the sausage dish names are displayed.

Staff members are dressed like old-school flight attendants, ready to help you on your gourmet hot dog trip. Grab a drink from the fully stocked bar, then step past the curtain into first-class seats. The idea is that your taste buds are about to take a trip.

While the food dives into exotic territory, the concept was created in a place close to home. Destination Dogs was dreamed up in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The restaurant also features a few arcade games (taking the place of an in-flight movie?).

It is located across from Moriarty's Pub, in the space that once held Farmer's Cabinet, and will be open 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily.
