The Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia this summer still needs 3,000 more volunteers to meet its 10,000-volunteer goal, the Philadelphia Business Journal reported.
Around 50,000 attendees are expected at the event that serves as both a send-off to President Obama and a partisan coronation of the nominee who wants to replace him. The four-day event in July is expected to fill 80,000 hotel room-nights, and visitors will hopefully be more willing to spend their money than the humble pilgrims who came to see Pope Francis.
According to the Philadelphia Host Committee's website, volunteers are needed to:
- Greet and guide guests at the convention itself, or at the airport, in train stations, downtown or at hotels
- Work in administrative or logistical support
- Help with transportation
- Use social media to help record history and share it online
- Manage groups as a volunteer leader
There's no hard deadline to apply, and volunteers can be as young as 14 years old. Click here sign up. Those with questions should email volunteer@phldnc.com or call 215-710-0770.
