The Folcroft Borough Darby Fire Company is praising one of its teen firefighters after he saved an umpire who collapsed during a baseball game Monday night in Delaware County.
Mike Brodzinski, a member of the fire company and student at Academy Park High School in Sharon Hill, was on second base after hitting a double when the umpire behind the plate collapsed to the ground from an unknown medical emergency.
The teen reacted immediately and started CPR on the umpire until the ambulance and medics arrived. Thanks to Brodzinski's quick response and heroic actions, the patient is currently in the hospital in stable condition.
