Seven-year-old Cameron McCarthy of Aston, Delaware County, rang the victory bell on the lawn of Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Delaware on Monday signaling the last day of her chemotherapy treatment, and with it, the start of a whirlwind day full of surprises.
In 2015, Cameron was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer.
While much of Monday's celebratory events are unknown to McCathy, it's safe to speculate based on her well-documented love of the Philadelphia Union, particularly player John McCarthy – no relation – that soccer will play a part in it. (Maybe even with a surprise visit from her favorite player.)
The day is being documented on a Facebook page created to keep supporters updated on her medical progress, TeamCameron, and by PHL17.
