Dance students at the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) and String Theory Charter School are in for a treat on Tuesday, May 9, and Wednesday, May 10.
Legendary choreographer Debbie Allen will teach a total of four 90-minute master dance classes. On both dates, there will be a class from 10-11:30 a.m. and from 1:30-3 p.m.
The classes are part of The Mann Center for the Performing Arts and Community Engagement Program’s 2017 Artist-N-Residency Program.
Allen is best known for her role in the television show “Fame,” for which she received a Golden Globe, but has a list of accomplishments.
"Grey's Anatomy" fans might recognize her as Catherine Avery. She also serves as executive producer/director on the ABC medical drama.
On June 6, Allen will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 42nd annual Gracie Awards Gala.
