Damaging winds, hail and heavy downpours ripped through areas of South Jersey late Friday afternoon, according to social media reports.
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 10 p.m. for the entire Philadelphia region, including the Jersey Shore, according to the National Weather Service.
Downed trees were reported across South Jersey, including Mount Holly in Burlington County.
The storms interrupted service for a time on the River Line when the tracks were blocked by a downed tree between Florence and Roebling.
