Christopher Sokiera, 41, of Glenshaw, Pennsylvania, was arrested after investigators searched his home Tuesday. According to the affidavit released by the DA's office, Sokiera allegedly told officials that he has a "good amount" of child pornography on his laptop and that he's been viewing the content for "possibly" years.
He also allegedly told investigators that he has never met or touched a child himself. Sokiera is the chapter advisor for the Nischa Nimat chapter in Beaver Valley and Seneca districts, according to the affidavit.
Sokiera was charged with possession of child pornography, dissemination of photographs and videotapes and criminal use of communication facilities.
“This behavior is unacceptable and runs counter to everything for which the Boy Scouts of America stands," The Boy Scouts said in a statement obtained by CBSPittsburgh. "While the allegations are unrelated to Scouting, upon learning of these reports we immediately removed this individual from our programs for the safety of our youth members and participants, and precluded him from any further participation in the organization.”
