Cooper University Health Care was recognized by U.S. News & World Report’s 2023-2024 Best Hospitals annual survey as one of the top 10 hospitals in New Jersey and as a high-performing hospital nationally in 11 specialty services: abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, colon cancer surgery, diabetes, heart failure, heart attack, heart bypass surgery, kidney failure, leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, pneumonia, prostate cancer surgery, and stroke.

"For the fifth time, U.S. News & World Report has acknowledged Cooper University Health Care as a regional and national leader known for exceptional quality care and outstanding outcomes. Year after year, Cooper and the many services it provides to our patients consistently ranks among the nation's best for quality and safety. From expanding the services we provide to the footprint of Cooper care, we continue to build on our unwavering commitment to the community we serve,” said George E. Norcross III, the chairman of Cooper University Health Care, Cooper Hospital and the MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper.

“The U.S. News and World Report’s latest rankings demonstrate, once again, the dedication of Cooper’s professionals to deliver the highest quality of care to patients in each and every program and service,” said Kevin M. O’Dowd, JD, co-CEO of Cooper.

“This recognition by U.S. News & World Report is a reflection of the hard work and commitment of our entire Cooper team who combine advanced medical expertise with compassion and innovation to provide exceptional care for every patient,” said Anthony J. Mazzarelli, MD, JD, MBE, co-CEO of Cooper.

The U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings are intended to help patients with rare or life-threatening conditions make informed decisions about where to receive care. This year’s U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals list ranks hospitals in 16 specialties: cancer; cardiology and heart surgery; diabetes and endocrinology; ear, nose, and throat; gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery; geriatrics; gynecology; nephrology; neurology and neurosurgery; ophthalmology; orthopaedics; pulmonology; psychiatry; rehabilitation; rheumatology; and urology.

This is the 34th year for the survey. The rankings — which compare more than 4,500 medical centers across the country — are based primarily on objective measures, such as risk-adjusted survival and readmission rates, volume, patient experience, patient safety, and quality of nursing.

Cooper University Health Care, with its MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper and affiliation with Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, is a leading academic health system. Nearly two million patients are served annually at Cooper’s 663-bed flagship hospital, outpatient surgery center, three urgent care centers, and more than 100 ambulatory offices throughout the community. The health system has more than 9,600 team members including 1,600 nurses, and more than 900 employed physicians and 450 advanced practice providers.
