On National Doughnut Day, the first-ever Hostess Donettes eating contest took place at The Shops at Liberty Place. Ten competitors lined up on stage to see who could eat the most powdered Donettes in just six minutes.
One was a school superintendent, another was a giant at 6 ft. 7 in. and one competitor performed a rap for the audience. The man to beat was Joey Chestnut, the number one competitive eater in the world.

Carmen Cincotti of Newark, N.J., came close. He managed to finish a total of 244 Donettes, while Chestnut won by eating a whopping 257.
After eating roughly 43 Donettes per minute, Chestnut still licked the powdered sugar from his fingers before smiling for the cheering crowd.
He took home $4,000 as the first place winner, while Cincotti won $2,000. Prizes were also awarded to third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh place finishers.
