Each year Christkindlesmarkt in Germany draws in crowds of holiday shoppers, but Philadelphians don't need to travel to Europe for the same kind of holiday market.
While most know about Philly's Christmas Village, there's also a suburban option. Christkindlmarkt, located at Bethlehem's Steel Stacks, is one of the most authentic open-air German Christmas markets in the country. It has been recognized as such by both Travel + Leisure and Condé Nast Traveler.

The market features a variety of artisans, glassblowers making ornaments on site, select retailers, live performances, photos with St. Nicholas, ice sculpting demonstrations and plenty of German food.
This December, the market is open on three weekends: Dec. 1-4, Dec. 8-11 and Dec. 15-18. Each weekend has a different selection of vendors and activities. Last year, Christkindlmarkt included more than 135 different vendors.
Admission to the Christmas market is $9, $5 for ages 6-12 and free for anyone age 5 and under. The market also offers an $18 season pass.
