Chris Christie has served as U.S. Attorney, Governor of New Jersey, and is currently seeking the presidency of the United States.
What does he think about adding Congress to that resume? No thanks.
Christie appeared on ABC's "This Week" program Sunday morning. During the interview, he discussed his state's preparations for Hurricane Joaquin, the tragic shooting in Oregon, and the country's relationship with Syria.
He then began discussing his record as Governor, citing his ability to keep Republicans in the state legislature together and taking a veiled jab at departing House Speaker John Boehner's attempts to do the same.
When host George Stephanopoulos jokingly asked Christie if he was running for Boehner's position, Christie was quite clear in his answer.
"I would rather jump off the Brooklyn Bridge than be in Congress," the governor said.
Some were quick to point out the potential irony in Christie's statement on Twitter, specifically considering the Bridgegate scandal that tainted the perception of his administration.
Shouldn't be making bridge references. @thehill: Christie: I’d rather jump off a bridge than serve in Congress http://t.co/zk9sul0yDm

ALT: Chris Christie says he'd rather jump off a bridge than serve in Congress. No easy feat ever since he shut down bridge access from NJ.
