Bruce Springsteen said “Born in the U.S.A.” was off-limits to Ronald Reagan. The Foo Fighters told John McCain no when he wanted to use their song “My Hero,” according to Five Thirty Eight.
The objections are often political. Certain artists don’t want a politician they disagree with using their music to enhance their campaign.
But newly announced Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie won’t face that obstacle with Hillary Clinton fundraiser and rock star Jon Bon Jovi.
Bon Jovi, who, like Christie, hails from the Garden State, told Politico that Christie’s campaign could use the song “Who Says You Can’t Go Home.”
“My friendships are apolitical, and yes, I absolutely gave him permission to use my songs,” a Bon Jovi publicist told Politico.
