There are many, many national food holidays. Pick a food and there's a date to celebrate.
In February, there is a National Fettuccine Alfredo Day (Feb. 7), a National Tortilla Chip Day (Feb. 24), a National Chocolate-Covered Peanuts Day (Feb. 25) – and that's just a handful of the semi-real holidays.
There's actually a good reason to celebrate National Carrot Cake Day on Feb. 3, however.
Ocean Prime in Center City has teamed up with No Kid Hungry for the holiday. The restaurant will be donating $1 from every 10-layer carrot cake sold to the nonprofit Share Our Strength.
The organization's aim is to end childhood hunger.
Ocean Prime's signature cake is made with 10 fluffy layers of carrot cake, which are topped with cream cheese icing and drizzled with pineapple syrup. The dessert is $11.
