Sure, a recent poll of likely Republican primary voters across the commonwealth saw GOP front-runner Donald Trump with a 16 percent lead over closest competitor Ted Cruz.
That doesn’t mean the Cruz folks have abandoned all hope here in Pennsylvania, though.
According to a Monday morning press release from the Philadelphia Republican Party, erstwhile candidate Carly Fiorina will be in Philadelphia on Tuesday “attending our annual Spring Cocktail Party as a surrogate for the Ted Cruz campaign.”
Interesting.
Joe DeFelice, the local party’s chairman, seemed pretty amped about the whole visit.
“Carly is an exceptional leader, a sharp speaker and a fierce advocate for conservatives across the country,” he said. “When she speaks, the whole room listens, so we’re particularly excited to have her speaking to those in attendance on Tuesday night.”
Fiorina dropped out of the GOP presidential field in February after finishing seventh in the New Hampshire primary.
The GOP cocktail party will be held at the Waterfall Room, 2015 S. Water St., starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
