Carli Lloyd, the Delran, Burlington County native who led the U.S. Women's Soccer Team to a World Cup championship earlier this year, has been hired as a spokeswoman for Hand& Stone Massage and Facial Spa.
The Hamilton, N.J.-based massage and skin care franchise entered into a partnership with Lloyd, who scored three goals in the championship game against Japan, through 2017.
Lloyd, 33, will appear in advertisements, help with social media campaigns and make some personal appearances for the company.
“We are extremely excited to have Carli on our team,” said Todd Leff, president and CEO of Hand & Stone, in a statement. “She has dedicated herself to promoting a healthy lifestyle and regular massage is an important part of her training. Carli has also been a member with Hand & Stone for since 2012 and had used her membership throughout the country. ”
Lloyd, a soccer midfielder for the Houston Dash in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) and the United States women's national soccer team, is playing on the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team Victory Tour. She will compete with the U.S. team in the 2016 Summer Olympics.
“I’m so excited to be partnering with Hand & Stone,” Lloyd stated. “I believe firmly that they are the best massage and facial spa franchise in the country. Massage is a very important part of my training and I try to get massages at least twice each week so that I can perform at the highest level.”
Lloyd signed an endorsement deal with Visa in July. She and her U.S. teammates recently visited the White House to be recognized as World Cup champions.
Hand & Stone has more than 250 locations in the United States and Canada, including more than 40 locations in the Philadelphia region, including Delran.
The company says it expects to open another 60 locations in 2016.
