An animal shelter in Camden County has put out a call for help as the clock ticks down to its upcoming closure.
After 10 years, Almost Home Animal Shelter and Adoption Center in Pennsauken is being forced to close its doors, according to a GoFundMe page created by the shelter.
Almost Home will stop accepting animals on Jan. 1 and will then have three months to place the remaining 50 dogs and 90 cats, NBC10 reports.
"Our staff and volunteers have celebrated together, cried together but most of all -- worked beautifully together," the shelter said on the GoFundMe page.
According to NBC10, Almost Home opened 10 years ago as a temporary facility when the Camden County Animal Shelter & Adoption Center made plans to expand.
Now that Camden County has finally completed its center, the six towns that previously funded Almost Home will send animals to the new shelter instead.
The shelter said it hopes to place the orphans into homes before the transition. Almost Home is also asking the public for donations to help fund the animals' care.
"Please help us continue to treat these beautiful orphans with the best medical care possible, warm beds, full tummies and good health!" the GoFundMe page reads.
