The cab driver fatally stabbed in the neck early Tuesday morning may have been killed in a botched robbery, police said.

The driver, whose identity was not released, was found lying face down around 12:30 a.m. in the 4400 block of I Street in Juniata Park with a three-inch stab wound to his neck, FOX29 reported. Investigators said the man's body was discovered about 200 feet from his car, an unmarked Toyota Camry with limousine license plates that had been involved in a crash.

The Camry had struck a parked vehicle on the street and its airbags had deployed. Blood and money were found in and outside the cab driver's vehicle, police said.

"There's a blood trail from that cab that leads about 200 feet south on I street in 4400 block, and that's where we found the victim at the end of the blood trail laying face down on the highway," Chief Inspector Scott Small told CBS3. "That's where he was pronounced dead."

A witness reported to police that several men were seen exiting the backseat of the Camry after it crashed.
