Was the Pope Bobblehead not enough? Do you want even more papal swag? Let no one say you Vatican't.
Philly Phaithful will release a shirt Saturday in honor of the World Meeting of Families that says: "I turned water ice into wine at Philavatican 2015."
Buy the shirt in August, or one of 10 other Philadelphia-centric designs, and 10 percent of the proceeds will go to the Rooster Soup Company, the Federal Donuts charity that sells soup to fund a soup kitchen.
You’ll also be entered for a chance to win an eat-and-greet experience with Federal Donuts chef and owner Michael Solomonov. Staffers at FedNuts will be wearing the Phaithful T-shirts for a month, and there will be at least one on-site pop-shirt sale.
You can buy the shirts online at phillyphaithful.com or snag one this weekend at the Camden Waterfront Arts and Fine Festival and the 2nd Street Festival in Northern Liberties.
They’ll also be sold at Born Yesterday in Rittenhouse Square, Ali’s Wagon in Fairmount and Mixed Threads in Lahaska, Pennsylvania.
This is the only Pope-related shirt the company has, but there are plenty of other designs available that reference Philadelphia food, culture and even grammar (like the “Wit or Witout You” shirt that shows your love-hate relationship with caramelized onions).
"All of the shirts are conceptualized in my head and designed by a number of talented artists, who are currently local or have local ties," said president Dan Hershberg, who worked for ESPN before starting the Phaithful company in 2008.
The shirts are sold as part of the Philadelphia Experience line. Each month, proceeds from the line will go to a different local charity and shoppers enter for the chance to win a cool experience with a Philly business.
The designs are also available as a baby onesie – so the littlest Phanatic can show off Philly pride too.
