Eight Bucks County high school students will soon face charges in a sexting scandal, NBC10 reports.
Middletown Township Police have been investigating the sexting claims for nearly three months, after they were first reported to Neshaminy High School officials on Oct. 31, 2014. Students allegedly saw inappropriate photos on classmates' phones in the school.
According to NBC10:
The district didn’t reveal any details about the shared messages outside of saying they were sexual in nature. It wasn’t clear where the photos originated, according to [district spokesman Chris] Stanley.
School officials alerted parents of the sexts and said individual students would be disciplined on a case-by-case basis.
Principal Dr. Rob McGee posted a message to the school's website following the initial reports asking parents, staff and students to, "refocus on pointing NHS in the correct direction again by speaking with the kids."
Parents were encouraged to check their children's phones for the Yik Yak app to see what they had posted.
Police are not releasing the names of those facing charges.
