BRÜ taps 32 rare beers for Sour Bowl

It's craft beer's answer to the Super Bowl

Are you ready for some ... craft beer? Sour Bowl I is Sunday, Jan. 25.

Super Bowl Sunday is coming a little early this year. Midtown Village craft beer bar BRÜ is hosting Sour Bowl I on Jan. 25, a celebration of rare and unique drafts.

Since the last Philly Beer Week -- held May 30 through June 8, 2014 -- BRÜ has been secretly stashing beers that rarely make it into the city, saving them for one big event. Now they're unleashing all 32 ciders, imperial IPAs, stouts, ales and sours from brands like The Bruery, Russian River, Pizza Boy and the temporarily homeless Philly brewery Nodding Head.

BRÜ isn't messing around, either. The taps open at noon and last until they're all kicked, and there's a limit of one of each draft per person at a time. All the beers will be priced between $7 and $9 (normally they'd hit around $12), and there will be a limited number of Russian River bottles available for $20 each.

Executive Chef Andrew Gaspar - whose resume touts stints at Stateside and Monk's Cafe - is cooking up food specials to go along with all the brews. Here's hoping we've found a new Super Bowl tradition.
