Temperatures will plummet late Tuesday night to near freezing, so gardeners will want to bring indoors any prized plants you may still have outside.
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a freeze watch for much of eastern Pennsylvania, parts of New Jersey and far northern Delaware. The advisory, in effect through Wednesday morning, does not include the urban centers near Philadelphia, which should see a low temperature of 35, forecasters said.
Temperatures outside of the city are expected to fall to near 30 early Wednesday morning in the suburbs. Frost or freezing temperatures are expected within the watch area, perhaps as early as midnight in some places, with the coldest temperatures between 6 and 7:30 a.m.
The cold will probably bring an end to the growing season in parts of the region, especially in the Lehigh Valley. People should bring sensitive outdoor plants indoors, forecasters warned.
