Bridgeton police arrest, charge cousin in connection to Independence Day killing

The Bridgeton Police Department announced the arrest Friday of a man who turned himself in on outstanding charges in the July 4 fatal shooting of his cousin.

Police found 24-year-old Wayne Height critically injured by a gunshot wound on the 100 block of York Street shortly after 10:00 p.m. on July 4. Height was transported to Bridgeton Hospital and later pronounced dead.

On Friday, Terrence Height, 38, was arrested and charged with murder, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, NJ.com reports. 

Height was processed on the charges and held at Cumberland County Jail in default of $750,000 bail.

Police will not release further details of the investigation at this time.
