Celebrate the capabilities of the new light system

To celebrate the relighting of Boathouse Row, there will be a free street festival and light show on Sept. 24.

At the end of July, the new lights were installed. Now Boathouse Row is getting a chance to show off the capabilities of the new lighting system, which includes a higher wattage and a variety of colors.

On Martin Luther King Jr Drive, across from the 19th-century boat houses, festival-goers will be able to watch the never-before-seen light spectacle. There will be food trucks, music and plenty of beverages on-hand for the occasion.

Fairmount Park Conservancy, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation and Parks on Tap partnered together to host the event.

The street festival begins at 4 p.m., with the light show kicking off at 7:30.
