Bill Nye "The Science Guy" will visit the Franklin Institute next month to debut his new book and discuss climate change. The famous scientist, author and TV personality will appear in an interview with WHYY host Maiken Scott Monday, Nov. 9. The event is both a preview of an upcoming lecture series at the Franklin Institute and a celebration for Nye's book "Unstoppable: Harnessing Science to Change the World,” out Nov. 10.
Tickets to the event are now available for $65, which includes a signed copy of "Unstoppable" and admission to the Franklin Institute's sustainably constructed exhibit "Changing Earth." The discussion will take place in the Benjamin Franklin National Memorial, and parts of the conversation will be broadcast on The Pulse, WHYY-FM’s weekly health and science program.
Since the days of his wacky educational TV show, Nye has become a pop-culture icon and a prominent public voice in the climate-change debate, known for his optimistic view on the challenges Earth faces. The Franklin Institute will use his appearance to springboard the Jan. 20 launch of a three-part lecture series featuring world-renowned speakers yet to be announced.
