Betsy Ross demonstrates historic chocolate making

Learn the important role women played in the American Revolution

The Betsy Ross House in Old City will perform a historic chocolate making demonstration Sunday, Jan. 3. During the American Revolution women chose to give their families chocolate or coffee instead of tea. Drinking chocolate became a patriotic gesture.

At the event, three female entrepreneurs will make special guest appearances and discuss how women played an active role during the American Revolution – from making important military supplies, like flags and musket cartridges, to making patriotic choices with their shopping.
