Authorities reported to a disturbance call around 4:30 p.m. at the 200 block of South Millick Street, between Walnut and Locust streets. When police arrived, a woman who answered said that her Nelson, her brother, attacked her mother, according to 6ABC.

Nelson appeared from behind and opened fire at the police when a bullet struck the woman in the arm. The woman was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in University City for treatment of her injuries.

Police spent more than an hour in a tense standoff after Nelson fired again and they returned the shots and then barricaded himself inside the house. Nelson, who was also struck, was taken into custody and then to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.

The standoff ended around 6 p.m. Friday. Police did not immediately return a request for comment Saturday.
