New Jersey Transit has issued a crackdown on alcoholic beverages for the weekend.

The temporary ban started Friday at 5 p.m. and will be lifted Sunday at midnight.

No open containers of alcohol will be permitted on trains and light rail cars. No beverage of any kind is permitted on buses.

The Belmont Stakes is scheduled to run on Saturday and a COPA America Centenario game between Ecuador and Haiti is scheduled for Sunday.

Locally, Radio 104.5's ninth Birthday Show is set for Saturday at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden. In May, commuters at a PATCO station in Center City Philadelphia reported urinating and vomiting in stations and on trains by large crowds thought to be traveling to a concert at the BB&T Pavilion.

NJ Transit warns that the alcohol ban will be strictly enforced this weekend.
