Many superheroes borrow names from creatures in the animal kingdom. Spider-Man, Cat Woman, Black Widow, Batman and Ant-Man are only a few.
To explore the real-life super abilities of animals, the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University will host an Animal Superhero Weekend.
There will be three scheduled shows on both Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3.
The first, "Animals with Bad Reputations," is at 11 a.m. and focuses on misunderstood animals. The second show begins at 1 p.m. and will feature bugs that serve as superhero inspiration. The final show, "Super Animals, Super Skills," is at 3 p.m. Guests will learn what animals have super-sight, super-strength and super-intelligence.
Other themed events are a superhero craft and a chance to test human strength, sight and speed against an animal's ability.
