Readers, you need help.
I mean, we all do. That’s why we’re launching “Ask Hickey” — a regular advice and etiquette column to help you guide you through this thing called life. As we said on Twitter: No topics are too big — or too small. So far you’re really hitting me with the small stuff:
Q: “Should I go to Diner en Blanc?”
A: Absolutely, positively not.
Q: “Which one’s the salad fork?”
A: It’s the shorter one, but nobody cares. Next time use a spork, the duct tape of the utensil world.
That's an adequate start, but let's do a whole heckuva lot more with this thing.
Send me your questions (on anything whatsoever, provided it meets my loose definition of good taste) through Facebook, Twitter or email (with Ask Hickey in the subject line). Your anonymity is guaranteed, if that’s how you want it, so feel free to send them via private/direct message. The volume of questions we receive will dictate how often the column appears, but we hope to start it on a weekly basis.
If it’s not something our in-house experts and I can wrap our heads around, we’ll find out who can. And remember: If it's important to you, it's important to us.
