Asher's Chocolates has issued a voluntary recall of 41 of its products due to a possible salmonella contamination.
The Souderton, Montgomery County company announced Tuesday that the recall was reported to the United States Food and Drug Administration.
The affected items include chocolate bars, cellophane-wrapped chocolates, and individually wrapped chocolates that are distributed nationwide.

The possible contamination occurred at the company's facility located in Lewistown, Mifflin County.
No illnesses have been reported, the company said.
“The safety and wellbeing of our customers is our primary concern, and we are taking this incident very seriously. In our 124 years of business, we have never previously detected Salmonella in our testing. We are working and cooperating fully with the U. S. Food & Drug Administration on this voluntary recall,” President and CEO Jeff Asher said. “We apologize to our retail customers and consumers and sincerely regret any inconvenience.”
The recall was initiated after routine testing revealed the presence of salmonella in a group of products.
Anyone who purchased the affected products is urged not to consume it and contact the company's customer service department at (888) 288-3880 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or email the company.
