Montclair State University student remains hospitalized in critical condition

A 27-year-old man has been charged in the hit-and-run of a New Jersey college student who remains comatose, NBC Philadelphia reports.

The victim, 22-year-old Montclair State University student Anna Semioli of Bergen County, was walking along Route 46 in Clifton on Oct. 9 when Michael Choynowski allegedly hit her and fled.

Semioli was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson where she remains in critical condition. 

Her loved ones have since launched a GoFundMe site to help pay for her medical care.

On Thursday, Choynowski was charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in serious bodily injury and endangering an injured victim for which he faces three to five years in prison on each count if convicted.
