Amtrak trains traveling through Delaware are operating on delays due to a person being struck and killed on Wednesday afternoon.
Amtrak temporarily halted service between Wilmington and Newark shortly after 4 p.m. after Amtrak Train 1194 struck a trespasser on the tracks south of Wilmington in New Castle County, according to multiple media reports.
It restored service shortly before 5 p.m. But trains are operating at a reduced speed, as only one of three tracks in that area is open. Amtrak advised riders that they may experience congestion-related delays in both directions.
SEPTA has suspended all Regional Rail service running south of Wilmington but is shuttling passengers via bus between Wilmington and Newark.
