Alleged hit-and-run driver surrenders to police

Miguel Colon surrendered to Philadelphia police after being wanted in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident.

A 22-year-old man wanted in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident in April surrendered to Philadelphia police Monday.

Miguel Colon, of the 5200 block of Howland St., surrendered at police headquarters. He was charged with vehicular homicide, accident involving death, vehicular aggravated assault, involuntary manslaughter and related offenses.

Colon allegedly struck a 19-year-old woman and her 2-year-old son while they were crossing the street at Mascher Street and Lehigh Avenue on April 13 at 7:02 p.m. Colon allegedly was driving a white 2006 Infinity traveling southbound on Mascher Street.

The woman was transported to Temple Hospital in critical, but stable condition. She was treated and released.

She was at the bedside of her son at St. Christopher's Hospital when he died on April 16.
