A Philadelphia man has been charged with trying to target a minor for sex on the internet in Montgomery County.
District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman announced Friday that 69-year-old Charles L. Cohen was arrested on Sept. 28 following an undercover investigation.
According to prosecutors, Sgt. Raymond Bechtel III of the Upper Providence Township Police Department posed as a 14-year-old boy online, arranging a meeting with Cohen where he allegedly proposed to perform oral sex on the juvenile.
Authorities say Cohen showed up at the meeting point at 600 Commerce Drive in Upper Providence Township. Law enforcement officials were there to greet him.
He has been charged with criminal attempt of involuntary deviant sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 16, unlawful contact with a minor and criminal use of a communication facility.
Cohen was jailed at Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to appear before a judge on Oct. 13.
