Former Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter may have left office in January, but he has not stopped working.
On Friday, Airbnb announced that Nutter will serve as chairman of its new Mayoral Advisory Board.
“After leading Philadelphia to pass some of the most progressive home sharing rules in the country, I know firsthand the tremendous economic impact of empowering everyday people to turn their greatest expense -- their housing -- into an economic opportunity," said Nutter. "I am looking forward to working with Airbnb to help other cities embrace home sharing,”
Three other mayors from around the world will also serve on the board: Annise Parker of Houston, Francesco Rutelli of Rome and Stephen Yarwood of Adelaide, Australia.
Airbnb, a company that connects residents looking to rent apartments or homes with people who are looking for short-term accommodations, hopes the initiative will help strengthen its relationships with cities.
The board will meet on a quarterly basis to review company policies, evaluate upcoming products and provide municipal insights.
Nutter served as Philly's 98th mayor from 2008 to 2016. Since leaving office, he been sworn in as a member of a homeland security committee, signed on as a professor at Columbia University and joined CNN as a political commentator.
