Currently, there are over 27,000 people living with HIV in the Greater Philadelphia region, according to the Office of HIV Planning Philadelphia. On Sunday, October 15, Philadelphians can be a lifeline for their neighbors and loved ones by participating in the 37th Annual AIDS Walk Philly 5K. Produced by AIDS Fund, the annual event raises public awareness and money for the organization to continue its mission in providing emergency financial assistance funds to individuals living with HIV disease in the Greater Philadelphia Region.
The 5k walk along scenic Kelly Drive will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude with a closing ceremony at 10 a.m. Entertainment from the renowned Dukes of Destiny, Philadelphia’s longest-lived and best loved blues act, will welcome walkers upon their return to the Art Museum steps.
5K Walker: Be a Lifeline for people living with HIV disease by registering as a 5K Walker. Walkers are encouraged to raise at least $50 so they can receive their official AIDS Walk Philly 5K t-shirt and walk along the route on October 15.
Volunteer: AIDS Walk Philly requires the help of volunteers to make the event safe and successful. Many volunteers choose to double their impact by fundraising as well as donating their time.
Make a Donation: You can be a lifeline for the most vulnerable people living with HIV by donating to AIDS Fund.
Hundreds of individuals every year receive emergency grants with funds raised at AIDS Walk Philly. The funds raised from donations, sponsorships, and participation remain in this region, which has a new infection rate three times greater than the national average. Since 1987, participants in AIDS Walk Philly have raised over $18.5 million for the fight against HIV/AIDS.
