Pa. reporter Hilde Lysiak, 9, criticized for reporting 'real news' fires back

Her response: ‘If you want me to stop covering news, then you get off your computer and do something about the news'

Hilde Kate Lysiak , 9, is a cute kid who spends her free time covering real news in her small town in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania – about 150 miles northwest of Philadelphia.

But recently Lysiak, the daughter of a former New York Daily News reporter, has been getting some backlash for reporting on an alleged murder for her community publication, Orange Street News.

"If you want me to stop covering news, then you get off your computer and do something about the news" - Hilde Kate Lysiak

Like a dogged reporter, Lysiak hasn’t been deterred by the comments, which include folks telling her to play with dolls and have a tea party instead, according to The Guardian.

Instead, she posted a video responding to her critics on (where else) the Orange Street News' YouTube page in which she said  “I know this makes some of you uncomfortable, and I know some of you just want me to sit down and be quiet because I’m [9].

“But if you want me to stop covering news, then you get off your computer and do something about the news. There, is that cute enough for you?”
