After being off the airwaves for more than a month because of medical issues, 6ABC anchor Jim Gardner is back.

Mike Monsell, vice president and director of creative services at 6ABC, confirmed that Gardner returned Monday after "a successful recovery." He was hospitalized Sept. 14 – just a week after he returned from a monthlong medical leave – because of an infection.

On the show's Aug. 5 broadcast, Gardner said he'd be gone because of a bicep tendon injury. He then came back Sept. 6.

Gardner took to Twitter to let his followers know that he had to return to the hospital because of a "severe prostate and [urinary] tract infection."

A usually active social media user, Gardner has been silent since his return.

The anchor's been with WPVI-TV since 1976 and celebrated 40 years on air with the station in July.
