3 dead, 2 wounded in overnight shootings in Philly

Three people were killed and two others were wounded in separate overnight shootings in Philadelphia, CBSPhilly reports.

The first shooting happened Wednesday night around 10:45 p.m. at West Clearfield and North Howard streets in the Fairhill section of the city. Police said a 20-year-old man sitting in front of his home was shot multiple times. He was struck twice in the head and was pronounced dead an hour later at Temple Hospital.

Another man in his mid to late 20s was shot on the 100 block of Colona St. early Thursday morning — once in his head and once in his back, according to police. He was pronounced dead just after 1 a.m.

Police said a 15-year-old boy was caught in crossfire and shot in the arm around the corner on the 100 block of Susquehanna Ave. at about the same time. He was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital.

Just before 1:30 a.m. Thursday, another fatal shooting occurred on the 4600 block of Unruh Avenue in the Tacony section of the city.

According to police, a 21-year-old who was shot in the torso was pronounced dead at the scene. A 28-year-old who was shot in the back was taken to Torresdale Hospital in critical condition. Three suspects wearing black hoodies are being sought in the double shooting.

All incidents are under investigation.
