In the U.S. 8th Congressional District primary elections, State Rep. Steve Santarsiero defeated small business owner Shaughnessy Naughton to win the Democratic nomination, and Republican Brian Fitzpatrick, a former FBI agent, easily beat two challengers to win Republican nod.

With 75 percent of precincts reporting Tuesday night, Santarsiero received 39,890 votes to Naughton's 26,482. Among the Republicans, Fitzpatrick received 55,8943 votes to 6,269 for former longtime Buck County Commissioner Andrew Warren and 8,893 for Marc Dumoe, a psychologist.
All results remain unofficial until certified by the board of elections.
The Eighth Congressional District includes Buck County and part of Montgomery County. The seat is currently held by Mike Fitzpatrick, who is retiring. He is the brother of candidate Brian Fitzpatrick.
The U.S. 7th Congressional District includes most of Delaware County and parts of Chester County, Montgomery County, Berks County and Lancaster County.
There, Republican incumbent Rep. Patrick Meehan defeated challenger Stanley Casacio receiving 73,598 votes to 21,269.
He will face Mary Ellen Balchunis in the November election. Balchunis, a political science professor and former Philadelphia mayoral assistant defeated pastor Bill Golderer. Balchunis received 46,205 votes to 14,774 votes for Golderer.
