Just because it’s the end of summer doesn’t mean it’s the end to great music, great parties, and of course, great dancing options. There’s plenty to choose from this weekend, be it Made In America, or at many of the clubs across the city – close out the summer with a bang, and a strong drink in hand.
Thursday, September 3
Chaperone, Minima Moralia, Flyherder, Remote Control, Kung Fu Necktie
Lesser Gods and End Result Productions have teamed up to throw this monster Thursday night show, which is also the cassette release party of Minima Moralia’s ‘Introduzione’. Plenty of dark and gritty sounds at this one, as Minima Moralia reps the dark synth-pop waves akin to The Knife, and Great Circles’ Chaperone, and Philly artists Flyherder, Remote Control, and DJ Speaking Parts also lend support.

Cheers to the Truewave crew for providing the perfect outlet for some of the amazing club/alternative electronic music coming out of Philly and keeping the party going (they just had their anniversary)! Space Jams (TWO FLOORS), The Barbary
Everybody get up, it’s time to slam now! While you probably love the 90s classic movie featuring Michael Jordan and his all-star cast of Looney Tunes, what you might not remember is that the soundtrack to the movie was absolutely way ahead of its time: featuring tracks from D’Angelo, Quad City DJs, Coolio, Seal, R. Kelly, Salt-N-Peppa and more! Cheers to The Barbary opening the second floor again, where Yolo Ono and Baby Eagle will transform the room into a "Jungle Gym" with millennial booty-bounce beats. Made In America Festival, Benjamin Franklin Parkway
Jay-Z (I forget whether he’s using a hyphen in his name or not these days) brings the big show to Philly for the third year running, this time enlisting his wife, some lady name Beyoncé. Plenty of international talent rocking multiple stages over by the Art Museum, it will be interesting to see how the crowd reacts to hometown rapper Meek Mill, after he unanimously earned the loss after a mumbling soft response in his diss battle with Drake. Be sure to check out the Skate Stage over by the river at Paine’s Park, where Philly acts Hop Along, Waxahatchee, Strand of Oaks, and Ground Up rock the stage. Shoutout to all the folks living in Fairmount who will be also be dealing with Pope-mania in several short weeks.
