A South Jersey police officer has been charged with soliciting a prostitute and witness tampering while on duty, Gloucester County prosecutors said Friday.

A criminal complaint was made against William Dick, a 42-year-old Greenwich Township Police Department patrolman, on Thursday that stated he committed misconduct "by engaging in sexual acts with a prostitute on duty" for money in April.
Dick also tried "to induce or otherwise cause a witness to falsely recant an initial report to law enforcement" via telephone.
Dick was released Friday after posting $35,000 bail set by Superior Court Judge Kevin T. Smith after visiting the prosecutor's office with his lawyer.
Dick, who has been with the department for 13 years, was suspended and is scheduled to appear in Central Judicial Processing Court On Oct. 27.
