What's new to stream in the busy fall TV season? 'Star Trek: Lower Decks' began its final season on Paramount+ and 'Silo' is returning to Apple TV+. 'Shōgun' is an excellent binge watch on Hulu, and the original 'Scream' movie is on Max for a late Halloween viewing.

Philly's largest city workers union votes to authorize strike during rush-hour rally

AFSCME District Council 33, which represents more than 9,000 Philadelphia city workers, voted to authorize a strike during a rally outside City Hall on Wednesday afternoon. The union is demanding a new contract with higher wages and better benefits.

November comedy shows in the Philadelphia region include Jerrod Carmichael at Helium Comedy Club, David Cross at Keswick Theatre and Michelle Wolf at Punch Line Philly. Also next month, Adrienne Theater will host a production of 'Fellowship! The Musical,' which parodies 'The Lord of the Rings.'

SEPTA's website now includes maps that depict bus detours, including stops and route segments that are being skipped, in real time. The feature eventually will be added to its app. Previously, SEPTA only provided information on detours in written formats.

Gov. Josh Shapiro appeared on 'The Daily Show' on Monday night to discuss Pennsylvania's pivotal role in the 2024 presidential election with host Jon Stewart. Shapiro also talked about how I-95 in Philadelphia was repaired so quickly in 2023, and what it was like to be vetted as a potential vice presidential candidate.

Police arrest Bucks County man who allegedly organized illegal car meetups

Police arrested Joseph Cavenaugh, 21, of Levittown, Bucks County, on Friday morning for allegedly organizing and promoting a series of chaotic car meetups in Philadelphia on Sept 21-22. Authorities also arrested Philly man James Hare, 20, for allegedly being a participant of the meetups. Police say that more arrests are still to come as part of the month-long investigation.

'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' and 'Abbott Elementary' crossover will be a two-episode event

The Gang from 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' will appear in the ninth episode of 'Abbott Elementary' Season 4, while 'Abbott' characters will appear in 'It's Always Sunny' in its forthcoming Season 17. The 'Abbott' half of the two-episode crossover has already been filmed and will include a 'significant storyline' for Charlie Day's character.

Fake Bucks County mail-in ballot video was made by 'Russian actors,' federal agencies say

According to U.S. intelligence officials, Russian disinformation operations were responsible for a staged video that purportedly showed an individual tearing up mail-in ballots in Bucks County with votes for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. Republican and Democratic officials from both major political parties condemned the video.

All year, this East Passyunk artist has chronicled the lives of Philly residents through a collaborative, online diary

Artist Molly Gorelick, of East Passyunk, organized a collaborative, online diary called 'A Year in Philadelphia' that has 366 city residents each documenting a different day in 2024. Entries typically include hour-by-hour updates with photos. Gorelick says she plans to continue the project in 2025 by assigning 'curators' to oversee each month.

Protesters interrupt Philly school board meeting, calling for Northeast High teacher's reinstatement

A pro-Palestine group of parents interrupted the School District of Philadelphia board meeting Thursday night, demanding Northeast High School teacher Keziah Ridgeway be reinstated. Ridgeway was removed in September after a Jewish group filed a complaint accusing her of using her post to promote anti-Israel viewpoints.
