Josh Innes, 94.1 WIP’s afternoon drive host, is in the news again for saying something controversial. And in this case, the backlash to his comments came so quickly that it caused Innes to apologize before his show with former Eagle Hollis Thomas had ended. From Rob Tornoe at Philly.com:
“I’m the dumbest human being on the planet,” Innes said, noting his intention was not to offend anybody. “I apologize for that, I truly do. I’m an idiot.”
Earlier in the show, Innes compared Eagles center Jason Kelce, who was at Doug Pederson’s introductory press conference earlier today, to an African-American house slave. If you are looking for more context and information about what Innes said, Crossing Broad has the original audio and a lengthy transcription.
The story blew up, which is what caused Innes to apologize so quickly. National websites like The Big Lead and Deadspin picked up the story, and it quickly made the rounds on the internet.
Update: Here's Kelce's response.
