You have to love minor league baseball.
The Wilmington Blue Rocks, a Single-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, are giving away a funeral to the loved one of a fan in an essay contest.
According to the team's website, the second annual promotion will take care of the planning and financials of the service for a family member, friend, or someone in need. Contestants are asked to write less then 300 words on why the person they are nominating is deserving of the free funeral.
The giveaway is being done with Brandywine Valley Funeral Care. The deadline for entries is Monday, July 13.
The team says the promotion is meant to help "someone celebrate a life well lived with this gift."
